Body is re-installed

With a little help from my friends, we installed the body on the chassis tonight

Primer goes on

We laid down the first coat of primer. More pinholes and defects were found and addressed and after a through sanding the second primer coat was applied. My paint guy stopped out with the color chips and we picked out the British Racing Green and the yellow which will form the stripe.

Final bodywork and finishing touches

We found a lot of pinholes that needed filled. Just when you thouth that you had found them all more emerged. This was a multi-day process. Finally we were able to was the body in prep for some primer

More dash work, wiring up the gauges

Here we installed the dash covering and install and wire up the gauges. We test them to make sure that they work as well as light up.

Dashboard started

We drilled the additional holes that we needed for our switch layout. Next step adding the vinyl.

Wheels and Tires

For those wondering what wheels and tires we choose. They arrived this week and we test fit them on the car to ensure clearances. FYI they fit just fine

The trunk heetmental and Driver's Footbox Sheetmetal are installed

First Drive AKA go-karting

After a once over we drove the go-kart out of the garage for the first time and took her for a spin.

More Electrical work

Fuse Panel gets installed and a temporary switch panel is made to accomodate the switches.

Second time for first start

Made several attempts to start yesterday. We had Air, Spark, but no fuel. did not appear that fuel pump was running. Did some research on the Internet last night, search took 1 minute on Google to find a checklist to find the problem. followed the steps provided and found that a wire from the fuel pump relay had apparently been used by a previous owner for a power supply for ssomething. I reestablished the connection and the pump started whirring. Here is the video of the first start.

First attempt to start

We installed the igniytion switch from the donor as we wanted to see if she wouild fire. After several attempts and getting the clutch to the floor we got her to turn over. unfortunately we were not able to get it to fire. We are really close

Wheels and tires go on

The wheels and tires go on in preparation for the first start. The car is resting on its own wheels for the first time.

Fluids are installed.

We installed the Oil, Transmissin fluid and the coolant to tha car.

Wiring harness gets sorted out, installed and hooked up

We re-taped and put new conduit on the donor harness. We layed it out and set it into the car. There are a lot of wires that are not needed anymore like radio, speakers and HVAC controls.

We connected all the wires up in preparation for starting it up.

Radiator and driveshaft get installed

The new radiator and a modified driveshaft get installed. The first radioator was found to be too big. we went back to the stock radiator. The electric fan is munted in the stock fan shroud. We sent the driveshaft from the donor out to a machine shop and they shortened it to 11 inches!.

Paint Scheme on model

Battery box, Battery and battery Cable are installed.

Engine goes in! We are moving along now.
